Frequently asked questions
Does tuning affect reliability?
No. Each of our tunes is designed to optimize your engine’s performance without sacrificing reliability. During development, our calibrations are tested all the way to the threshold where detonation (“knock”) could occur. From there, parameters are backed off to a safe operating margin. Every tune undergoes 200+ hours of reliability testing both on a dyno and in-water before release to ensure long-term durability.
Will I need a new prop?
Most customers do not. The performance gains are noticeable with your existing prop. That said, changing props can further tailor your results-whether you’re chasing top speed, better hole shot, or maximum efficiency.
Will this hurt fuel economy?
No-quite the opposite. By increasing engine efficiency, most customers see a 15% improvement in fuel economy. Because the motor makes more power, it requires fewer RPM to maintain the same speed. In some cases, especially with multi-engine boats, fuel economy gains are even higher.
Do I need to be local?
No. We offer remote tuning solutions across most of the Western Hemisphere at the same cost as local service. Turnaround can be as quick as three days.

How much extra power can I expect?
Depending on your engine, gains can be up to 130hp. Each product page includes dyno graphs showing detailed improvements across the powerband.

Will this affect my range?
Yes, positively. Improved fuel economy directly increases your maximum range. On average, a 15% fuel efficiency gain translates to 15% more distance per tank. For example, if you previously traveled 400 miles on one tank, you can now expect about 460 miles.
In some cases, the results are even more dramatic. One customer with a 43’ Everglades powered by 4x350s went from 0.5 mpg to 0.7 mpg-a 40% increase-boosting range from ~306 miles to ~509 miles per tank.
How is this possible?
Manufacturers like Yamaha build a single engine platform that supports multiple horsepower ratings. For example, the Offshore V6 F225 is mechanically identical to the Offshore V6 F300-the difference is in the factory calibration. Our tunes safely unlock this hidden potential and optimize performance beyond stock settings.
How do I schedule a local tune?
If you’re local, simply purchase your tune and select local pickup at checkout. A member of our team will reach out to schedule a time for you to bring your ECU. The process takes less than 20 minutes.
What is tuning?
Tuning your engine means recalibrating the ECU to unlock its full potential. By doing so, you can increase horsepower, improve fuel efficiency, and fine-tune the engine’s performance to match your needs. Because the process requires advanced software and technical expertise, it’s best handled by a professional tuner. It’s an effective way to maximize your engine’s capabilities without the expense of repowering your boat.
Does it affect my warranty?
As far as the manufacturer is concerned, any modification to your engine outside of routine maintenance will void the warranty. So, legally speaking it can void the warranty. If at any point you wish to return your engine to the stock calibration we are happy to do so at no extra cost as long as your intention is not to defraud the manufacturer.
Why Tune Your Engine?
Engine manufacturers often build one platform capable of multiple horsepower levels. Instead of different parts, power is controlled by the ECU (engine control unit). For example, the Yamaha Offshore F225 and F300 are mechanically identical-the difference is calibration. Our tuning safely unlocks this hidden potential and further optimizes performance.
Benefits of Tuning:
More Power & Speed – Get on plane faster and enjoy higher top-end performance.
Better Fuel Economy – Optimized ECU settings reduce fuel consumption and let you cruise at lower RPMs.
Extended Range – A 15% fuel efficiency gain means 15% more miles per tank. (400 miles before tuning = ~460 after).
Tuning requires specialized software and expertise, which is why working with professionals is essential. We provide safe, reliable calibration that delivers results you can trust.
